Support services that include
This involves logistical and administrative preparation for Council, Executive Committee (Exco), and portfolio committee meetings. Tasks include scheduling, agenda preparation, distribution of documents, minute-taking, and monitoring the implementation of decisions made in these meetings. This process facilitates transparent and accountable governance, allowing for better-informed decision-making.
The municipality’s Records Management system is the nucleus for all municipal documentation. The Administration Unit ensures that organizational records are securely stored, organized, and disposed of in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This also includes the management of printing resources, making sure document handling is cost-effective and secure.
The unit provides and manages security measures for municipal premises, including controlling access to ensure safety for both staff and the public. This includes managing entry/exit logs, installing and maintaining surveillance systems, and handling security protocols that prevent unauthorized access, ensuring the premises remain protected and secure at all times.
This function involves the planning, distribution, maintenance, and operational management of municipal vehicles. The Fleet Management team ensures that all vehicles are available and in optimal condition to support municipal activities, especially in service delivery-related operations, while managing records, controls, and utilization protocols.
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of municipal properties, this unit coordinates cleaning schedules, oversees the upkeep of office equipment, and manages bookings and maintenance for municipal facilities.
The Administration Unit provides essential legal support, assisting the Municipal Manager and council with compliance, litigation, and bylaw enforcement matters, helping protect the municipality’s legal interests and ensuring adherence to relevant laws.
This subunit is responsible for the drafting, revision, and enforcement of municipal bylaws and policies. These bylaws govern a range of public and community issues, from property encroachment to public health, contributing to a legally sound and orderly municipality.
As the first point of contact for the public, the reception and switchboard services support efficient communication within the municipality and handle inquiries from the public, enhancing the municipality’s accessibility and responsiveness.

Municipal Bylaws
