2026 YOUTH SKILLS TRAINING
The Municipality, through its Youth Empowerment Initiative, is calling for applications for the Skills Development Programme. The Skills Development Programme will be offered for a period of four to five weeks (35 days) as determined by the analysis of the municipality.
PROGRAMME
DRIVER’S LICENSE TRAINING;
Number of Lessons: 35 Hours
Code ID: Code 10 (C1)
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
• Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
• Be in possession of a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
• Have a valid Code 10 (C1) Learner’s Licence.
• Be unemployed.
• Be available to attend all training sessions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
• A signed application letter stating that you meet the requirements mentioned above.
• A comprehensive CV and written proof of residential address from your Ward Councillor.
• Certified copies of your documents, including:
o C1 Learner’s Licence
o Identity Document
A successful applicant must be available to attend training at a venue determined by the municipality and the training service provider.
NB: Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. Communication will be limited to successful applicants.

Johannes Phumani Phungula Local Municipality wishes to warn members of the public about a scammer who identifies himself as Bongani Mashaba, falsely claiming to be an official of the Municipality.
The individual has been approaching households in and around Ixobho, alleging that properties are scheduled for immediate service disconnection due to outstanding municipal account arrears. Victims are then pressured to make on-the-spot cash payments, with amounts reportedly as high as R7 000.
The Municipality wishes to categorically state that it does not conduct door-to-door cash collections, nor does it demand immediate payments in this manner. Residents are urged not to make any payments to individuals claiming to represent the Municipality and to verify all account-related matters through official municipal offices or authorised channels.
Members of the community are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Municipality or the South African Police Service
