Her Worship Mayor Elizabeth Bathobile Ngubo serves as the mayor of JPP Local Municipality, located in the Harry Gwala District, KwaZulu-Natal. Mayor Ngubo plays an active role in addressing community concerns, such as resolving service delivery issues like water shortages, upgrading roads, and housing projects.

M.E. Mkhize

M.E. Mkhize is the Municipal Manager of Johannes Phumani Phungula Local Municipality. In this role, Mkhize oversees the administration of the municipality, ensuring that the municipality’s operations align with its goals and regulatory requirements. Mkhize also plays a pivotal role in working with the municipal council and other stakeholders to ensure smooth governance and development projects within the municipality.

SCAM ALERT

Johannes Phumani Phungula Local Municipality wishes to warn members of the public about a scammer who identifies himself as Bongani Mashaba, falsely claiming to be an official of the Municipality.

The individual has been approaching households in and around Ixobho, alleging that properties are scheduled for immediate service disconnection due to outstanding municipal account arrears. Victims are then pressured to make on-the-spot cash payments, with amounts reportedly as high as R7 000.

The Municipality wishes to categorically state that it does not conduct door-to-door cash collections, nor does it demand immediate payments in this manner. Residents are urged not to make any payments to individuals claiming to represent the Municipality and to verify all account-related matters through official municipal offices or authorised channels.

Members of the community are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Municipality or the South African Police Service
